Install Scatter as an app

Scatter runs right in your browser — but you can also add it to your home screen so it opens full-screen like a normal app, with its own icon. It takes about ten seconds, there's no App Store, and it works offline once installed.

Why install it? You get a tap-to-open icon, a full-screen view with no browser bars, and the studio keeps working even with no connection. Your photos still stay on your device — nothing is uploaded. It's completely free.
iPhone & iPad

Install on iPhone or iPad (Safari)

  1. Open scatterphoto.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen (or top on iPad).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top-right corner. The Scatter icon now sits on your home screen.

On iPhone and iPad this must be done in Safari — other browsers don't offer Add to Home Screen on iOS.

Android

Install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open scatterphoto.com in Chrome.
  2. You may see an Install app prompt pop up — tap it and you're done. If not, continue below.
  3. Tap the menu button (the three dots, ⋮, in the top-right).
  4. Tap Install app (or Add to Home screen), then confirm. The Scatter icon appears in your app drawer and home screen.
Windows, Mac & Chromebook

Install on a computer (Chrome or Edge)

  1. Open scatterphoto.com in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar (a small monitor with a down-arrow).
  3. Click it and choose Install. Scatter opens in its own window and is added to your Start menu, Dock or desktop.

Questions

Is this a real app from the App Store or Play Store?

It's a Progressive Web App — the same Scatter studio, saved to your home screen so it opens like an app. There's nothing to download from a store, no account, and no updates to manage; you always get the latest version automatically.

Will it use up storage or need permissions?

It's tiny and asks for no special permissions. Your photos are read only when you add them, and they're processed on your device — never uploaded.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once you've opened Scatter once, the installed app keeps working without a connection, so you can make joiners on a plane or anywhere with no signal.

How do I remove it?

Press and hold the icon and choose Remove / Delete, just like any other app. Removing it doesn't delete your saved projects unless you also clear the site's data.
